Gilmore Girlsis truly a seasonal classic for the holidays, and there is oneGilmore GirlsChristmas episode that features the perfect Lorelai and Luke moment. Over the course of their slow will-they-won’t-they relationship, Luke and Lorelai snuck in cute moments that signified the care they had for each other. With the show’s holiday episodes being filled with a sense of whimsy and tradition, it might be why some of their most romantic moments happened inGilmore Girls' Christmas episodes.
Season 5, episode 11, “Women Of Questionable Morals” has one of my all-time favorite Lorelai and Luke moments. It is so good that it almost makes me forget about all the truly questionable aspects of the episode. Even though theGilmore Girlscasthas long moved on from the quiet town of Stars Hollow,re-watchingGilmore Girls' “Women Of Questionable Morals” always brings me back to the first time I watched Luke and Lorelai’s relationship unfold.

“Women of Questionable Morals” Is A Gilmore Girls Christmas Classic
The Episode Celebrates The Holiday Without Even Mentioning It
Gilmore Girls' best Christmas episodesare typically filled with celebrations of snow, community, and family, and “Women Of Questionable Morals” has all of that. While the episode never actually mentions Christmas, it has all the elements that describe the magical holiday, including Lorelai’s obsession with the beauty of the first snowfall. The episode also features Stars Hollow’s reenactment group, who always put on a live presentation following the first snow of the season. Much to Lorelai’s amusement and Luke’s annoyance, the reenactment group contributed to the perfection of the town’s ability to capture the Christmas spirit in Stars Hollow.
The episode shows the faults of human errors, but it also unveils the beauty of the cold in bringing people closer.

The episode also shows the slow reconciliation betweenRichard and Emily Gilmoreafter they discover and house a dog while waiting for its owner. The mysterious terrier pulls the couple together again as they take turns taking care of it, reminding them of their strong partnership and why they married in the first place.“Women Of Questionable Morals” highlights the love of family, and there is nothing more Christmas-like than reconnecting with distanced family members. The episode shows the faults of human errors, but it also unveils the beauty of the cold in bringing people closer.
I Think Luke Making Lorelai An Ice Rink Is One Of Their Best Gilmore Girls Moments
Luke Always Shows His Love Through His Actions
“Women Of Questionable Morals” starts off with a quintessential Luke and Lorelai moment, as Lorelai drags Luke out of bed to experience the first snowfall together, while Luke begrudgingly follows. Moreover, the episode starts with Lorelai’s love of snow. But when the Dragonfly Inn gets snowed in, Lorelai is ready to break up with winter. She has always been a bit eccentric and her love for snow is included in this, but Luke understands this is a part of her, which is why him building an ice rink for her was such a big deal.
Gilmore Girls Luke Actor Addresses Backlash Over Luke & Lorelai’s Relationship Stumbles: “Sometimes You’ve Got To Piss Off The Fans”
EXCLUSIVE: Scott Patterson defends a controversial storyline in Gilmore Girls, explaining why upsetting fans can lead to better storytelling.
Luke sees Lorelai for who she truly is. He built her an ice rink to reignite her love for snow. In true Luke fashion, he tells her, “I’m grumpy about stuff, but I don’t want you to be.” While the couple may have better romantic moments inGilmore Girls, Luke’s ability to see and understand Lorelai in this scene is why I rewatch this episode yearly. No one really understands Lorelai like Luke does. There are a lot ofGilmore Girlsmoments that I consider to be the best, and this one easily makes it onto the list too.

Their Most Romantic Moments Happened During The Magical Season
Luke and Lorelai have always had amazing moments inGilmore Girls' Christmas episodes. The first Christmas episode ofGilmore Girls, “Forgiveness And Stuff,” is arguably one of their best.It shows Luke’s love for Lorelai, years before Luke would actually admit it to himself, while also showing off their incredible chemistry. I always like rewatching that episode, as it really highlights their blossoming relationship. Another incredible episode that shows off the early romance of Luke and Lorelai is “The Bracebridge Dinner.” Luke is charming as usual, while Lorelai has never been so clumsy. I always find it an amusing rewatch.
Christmas often brings out feelings of love and whimsy, but it also reunites family.

Luke’s love for Lorelai has always been revealed through actionsrather than words, and his fight with Christopher in season 7’s Christmas episode highlights this. I have always been an avid Luke fan, and his fight with Christopher just proved how much he liked Lorelai. Christopher was always getting in the way. Christmas often brings out feelings of love and whimsy, but it also reunites family. As Luke has learned over the course of his relationship with Lorelai inGilmore Girls, family reunions can sometimes lead to fist fights, albeit not necessarily between family members themselves.
