Warning: SPOILERS ahead for A Minecraft Movie!A Minecraft Moviedirector Jared Hess has opened up about how one of his favorite Easter eggs is a tribute to an iconic YouTuber who received a similar tribute in the game. Thecast ofA Minecraft Moviemostly consists of established actors, such as Jack Black portraying Steve and Jason Momoa playing Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison. However, the movie also featured a multitude of cameos from famousMinecraftYouTubers, those being DanTDM, Aphmau, Mumbo Jumbo, and LDShadowLady. However, another YouTuber was acknowledged in another Easter egg referencing the game’s history.
Speaking withCollider, Hess explained one of his favorite Easter eggs inA Minecraft Movieisthe appearance of a pig wearing a golden crown, referencing the in-game skin of deceased YouTuber Technoblade. The director explained how star Sebastian Hansen, who plays Henry, told him about the YouTuber, who died of cancer in 2022. This led to the inclusion of a short scene reminiscent of a similar tribute to him seen in theMinecraftgame. Check out what Hess had to say below:

One of my favorite Easter eggs came from Sebastian, who plays Henry. When we were prepping the film, he was like, “Look, there’s this amazing Minecraft player named Technoblade who passed away, and I would love to be able to honor him somehow in the film.” We were like, “Oh my goodness, of course.” So we spoke with our design team, and there’s a really, really sweet, special nod to Technoblade in the film that is really cool.

It makes for one of the more emotional moments in the film, which spends most of its time prioritizing its comedy over its drama.
