TheOne Pieceanime arc forEgghead Island has been on hiatussince October 2024, but the cast responsible for voicing the iconic Straw Hat Pirates have reunited ahead of the show’s return in the Spring. In a post shared bypewpieceon X, most of the voice actors for the crew can be seen in an image together, seemingly ready to record.
The pictures prominent features the iconic voice actors forOne Piece’sStraw Hats, including Mayumi Tanaka as Monkey D. Luffy, Kazuya Nakai as Roronoa Zoro, Hiroaki Hirata as Sanji, Yuriko Yamaguchi as Robin, Kappei Yamaguchi as Usopp, Cho as Brook, and Katsuhisa Hoki as Boss Jimbei.

The Cast’s Bond With Each Other Mirrors The Straw Hats
TheOne Piecevoice actors have worked together for over 25 yearsand have grown old together in the process, forming a bond rarely seen in the anime community. As such, audiences have grown to love the cast for their camaraderie and tenue voicing their favorite characters. Most of the actors through the anime and other works have gone on to gain popularity in their own right, including Tanaka (who recently celebrated her 70th birthday on January 15), known for voicing severalDragon Ballcharacters like Krillin and, more recently, Turbo Granny fromDanDaDanalongside Nakai as Serpoians.
Nobody from the main Straw Hat crew has been recast throughout the quarter of a century voicing the same characters. However, the voice actor for Franky,Kazuki Yao, announced his retirement from theOne Pieceroleat the end of 2024, much to his own frustrations. “The time has come for me to give a sad farewell,” Kazuki wrote. “Goodbye to the dude I’ve spent nearly 25 years with. It is almost an out-of-body experience, but I feel as if a gap has been created between myself and the Franky I know. So I’ve decided to get off of the [Thousand] Sunny.”
Kimura, Yao’s replacement as Franky, will be best known to Western fans of shonen anime as the Japanese voice actor for Aoi Todo inJujutsu Kaisen.
“I am frustrated,” Yao continued. “I feel sad! I am really sorry. However, we have found a super replacement.Look forward to the announcement… at Jump Festa.” At the event, he and the fans were able to pass the torch (or panties, for the scantily clad Franky) toFranky’s new actor Kimura Subaru, who was accepted by the crew and audience alike. It’s a sweet sendoff reflective of what the Straw Hats themselves would do if Franky ever had to leave the crew himself and a glimpse into how much the cast understands its audience and why these voice actors are so beloved.
The One Piece Anime Is Set To Return Sooner Rather Than Later
One PieceEgghead Part 2 will resume its broadcast in Japan with episode 1123 on April 6at 11:15 PM on Fuji TV, a new time slot for the series. The announcement was made during Jump Festa 2025 alongside an accompanying trailer, which can be seen above. The series has been airing aremastered version ofOne Piece’sFish-Man Island arcto tide fans over until new episodes debut.
The first part of Egghead Island follows the Straw Hat crew following their defeat of the Beast Pirates and becoming a Yonko crew. It features the first appearance of Dr. Vegapunk, who has been teased but never seen throughout the series since the Post-Enies Lobby arc. It also showcases the rematch between Luffy and Rob Lucci, who last saw each other at Enies Lobby, where Luffy narrowly defeated the now CP0 agent.

Fans of the anime and more seasoned manga readers are more excited than ever to get through the rest of the arc, as Egghead has unfolded much differently than most arcs, and many contribute it to the story being in the final saga, as author Eiichiro Oda announced. InOne Piece, arcs usually follow Luffy and/or the Straw Hats until the end of the arc or the beginning of a shorter one, where audiences get to see how the outside world, the government, and the players in the hunt for King of the Pirates are doing currently.
However, in Egghead, Luffy and the gang have been shelved for a number of episodes. First, to show what Trafalgar Law and Eustass Kid are up to, and then again to see what Koby, the Marines, and Blackbeard crews are doing.
