There have been several Chasers over the course of the series, including Paul Sinha, a stand-up comedian who had previously studied to be a professional doctor. Ever the comedian, Sinha did manage to find some humor in the situation, recalling a moment when another patient in the room recognized him for his TV appearances,

“On the penultimate day, I was trying to get some sleep, and a patient two beds down had his wife on speakerphone. And I heard his wife on speakerphone bellow the following words across the ward: ‘The ironic thing is he’s the Chaser I’ve always hated.’ That, to this day, is probably the most dramatic moment of my life. Anyway, it cheered me up, because it was such a ludicrous thing. You’ve got to laugh.”

For Sinha, it seems like a little levity in the dramatic situation was exactly what he needed to raise his spirits. There’s still a long recovery ahead for Sinha,

“Well, it’s been tough. But you’ve got to keep fighting, keep battling, you don’t have any other options, really. People often call you brave. I’m not brave, I’m just pragmatic and positive and attempt to keep going and keep going forward.”

He stressed how important it was for him to follow his doctors' directions and continue with his medication. Hopefully, Sinha’s commitment to his rehab and his cheery attitude means he will be back to feeling 100% soon.
