One of the biggest mysteries sincePokémon TCG Pocketlaunched was where Promo A Card number 008 was. Through various different events,all the Promo A Cardsfrom 001 up to 033 have been made available for players to collect, with one notable exception, 008.The 008 card is a new version of the Pokédex item card, which players can use in battles.
Some of these other cards are no longer available due to appearing in events that have now ended, while others are locked behind the paid-for premium pass. However, thankfully, now that it is here, Promo A Card 008 is the easiest of the lot to add to your collection. This comes at a time with plenty of new elements ready to drop intoPokémon TCG Pocket, withtrading officially confirmed to come this monthand the potential of a new pack expansion A2.
How To Claim Promo A Card 008
Claiming The Latest Card
The first time players log in from 10 July 2025, they will receive a message saying, “Thank you for playing thePokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. To celebrate achieving 40,000,000,000 cards acquired in total by players around the world, we are giving you a promo card!” Once you have read this message in the News tab, all you have to do is go to theGifts tab in the top right corner of the home screen and claim the item.
Once you have claimed the item in gifts, it will added to My Cards page inPokémon TCG Pocket.
Thankfully, it is available for players to claim for an extended period of time, meaning it is not one that players will miss. You can claim the card fromJanuary 20 to June 01, 2025 in the gifts tab.
Using Promo A Card 008 in Battles
Is The Card Worth Using
The Promo A Card 008 itself is exactly the same as the normal Pokédex card inPokémon TCG Pocketbut with a different appearance. This special promotion looks great, with Generation One favorites Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and Pikachu all surrounding a Pokédex.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket players have discovered that an already unpopular feature is even more bothersome than they had thought.
Unfortunately, the card itselfhas limited use in battlesagainst either otherreal-life opponents in Versus modeor against the AI in Solo mode. The card allows you tolook at the top three cards of your deck.This does have a purpose, giving you the advantage of knowing what is coming next and providing a reference if you’re debating using another card to draw additional ones from your deck. However, out of the Supporter and Item cards available, it is much less effective thanSabrina or Professor’s Research.
Even if it serves little purpose in the average battle, Promo A Card 008 could have some use in the right control deck. Either way, finally being able to add the Promo A Card 008 to a collection is a fantastic surprise when logging in toPokémon TCG Pocket.
