Pokémon Trading Card Game Pockethas launched a brand-new kind of event, offering players the chance to grab Fire-type cards through Wonder Picks. Over its first month,Pokémon TCG Pockethas tried several different events to keep fans logging in when not opening up packs. These events have ranged from battling events that test players' skill against human and computer opponents tospecial Wonder Pick eventsthat offer a chance at promo cards and more.
Today,Pokémon TCG Pocketlaunched anew Mass Outbreak eventfocused on Fire-type Pokémon. Randomly,special Wonder Picks will appear with a selection of Fire-type cards,including an Arcanine ex and a Moltres. In addition, players will occasionally get a free Wonder Pick selection offering common and uncommon Fire-type cards. Players can also complete several missions to earn Wonder Hourglasses and Shop Tickets. Players can also earn a special flair for Arcanine ex, giving them a yellow “Circles Flair” if they spend shinedust and trade in cards. The event runs from November 22nd through November 28th.
How Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Mass Outbreak Event Works
Players Will Occasionally Get Chansey Wonder Picks And Bonus Picks
To participate in the event, players must look at their Wonder Pick menu to see if a Chansey Wonder Pick or Bonus Pick is active. While the Bonus Pick will not cost players any Wonder Stamina,the Chansey Wonder Pick will cost players a standard amount of stamina. Because the pool of Wonder Pick cards includes an Arcanine ex, players may have to spend up to three Wonder Stamina on a pick. Some playerson Redditaren’t too happy about this, with one player describing the event as “feeling pointless” because of the lack of promo or otherwise rare cards.
The following missions are also available during the Wonder Pick event:
Collect 1 Arcanine ex card
Wonder Pick 3 times
Wonder Pick 5 times
Collect 15 Fire-type Cards
7 Shop Tickets, 2 Wonder Hourglasses
Keep in mind that collecting Fire-type cards can also come from opening up booster packs, so players should be able to complete all of these missions over the course of the next week with a little bit of luck.
Our Take: Too Expensive For Weak Wonder Pick Selection
Feels Like A Waste Of Valuable Wonder Stamina
While I like the concept of this Mass Outbreak event, there’s little incentive for daily players to participate if they already have the Arcanine ex card. Considering that Wonder Picks with Pokémon ex cards cost the same as a Wonder Pick with alternate art cards,it makes more sense for players to use Wonder Picks to pursue cards they don’t have.
What Is Shinedust Used For In Pokémon TCG Pocket
Shinedust is a mysterious sparkling bottle of unknown origins in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, and it has only one single purpose in the game.
Chasing after extra Arcanine ex cards, even with the incentive of special flair, seems like a waste of valuable stamina. Had the Mass Outbreak event featured either promo cards or alternate art cards, this event might be worth more effort. However, as is, this seems like one ofPokémon Trading Card Game Pocket’s worst events yet.
