Doey The Doughman’s Origins In Poppy Playtime Chapter 4

Doey’s Donor Is A Twist Compared To Other Poppy Playtime Characters

Doey Dough was a small, moldable toy sold as early as the 1950s inPoppy Playtimelore. A different version of him was created later, called Doey the Doughman, and soon enough,he became part of the scientists' agenda as well. The idea was to have three different children turned into this Bigger Body, and it started when a small child named Jack Ayers fell into a vat mixer during a tour of the factory.

The three total children who made up Doey the Doughman were:

It is implied that due to his shapeshifting and origins, the scientists wanted Doey to have this mix of personalities so that he could fulfill multiple roles, with Jack being playful enough to get along with the other kids, Matthew having a strong guiding hand, and Kevin having the ability to take things up a notch when needed.

While Jack doesn’t seem to have much control over Doey, as seen when he is unable to stop Kevin when he lashes out at his parents and how Matthew seems to take over at most other points, he does have voice lines and does occasionally call out for his parents and apologizes to the player. His parents are revealed to be killed by Doey with Kevin in charge, which is likely what the scientists wanted to happen to get rid of any witnesses.

Is Doey The Doughman Good Or Evil?

A Complex Character With A Tragic Ending

There is a lot of complexity in all of the characters, including themonsters inPoppy Playtime, although some have not been as fleshed out. So far, not much as far as redemption goes has been seen for the likes of Liethe Pierre, but the series has at least one more chapter to go. However,Doey does embody the idea of complexity more than most, having three victims inside and not just one.

At the end of the day, his story is a tragedy. Three innocent kids are trapped inside and vying for control. Even Kevin is angry at those who hurt them, and it is likely due to what he was subjected to that gave him the behavioral issues he now has. Doey feels extreme compassion for those under his care, and he is distraught at the thought of the Safe Haven being destroyed. While he attacks us for it, it is an extreme emotion caused by a very upsetting event.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 4’s “The Doctor” Explained

Following the style of previous chapters, Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 includes a new villain who reigns over this section, and he’s known as the Doctor.

He goes against Poppy, yes, but he also goes against the Prototype. Matthew and Jack seemingly know that Kevin’s actions at the end of the chapter are out of line, as they both apologize. He is complex, Kevin’s actions are instinctual, but three terrified and abused kids don’t deserve to be labeled evil for trying to protect the other kids. He was doing his best, and Kevin’s aggression was mostly under control for a very long time.

While some may disagree, it is important to see all of these characters on a scale of complexity. So far, very few have come across as fully innocent, and of those, most of them are orphans who were the victims of everything else. Doey the Doughman is a great example of a well-rounded character inPoppy Playtime Chapter 4, and one that deserved a little more screen time.
