Reacherseason 3 is a blend of new and old faces, although much more the former than the latter.Lee Chilld’sJack Reacherbooks, on which the Amazon show is based, are written as standalone adventures that just so happen to be set within the same continuity. They’re intended to be read in any order, so each installment often has a flood of fresh introductions.Amazon’s adaptation doesn’t follow quite the same formula as the source material, but it certainly comes very close in terms of the attrition rate of its characters and the semi-anthological storylines.
As a result ofReacher’s relative adherence to Child’s blueprint, very few members of theReacherseason 2 castreturn for the show’s third outing. That being said,Reacherseason 2’s endingdoes leave the door open for certain stars to come back to the story. However, as an adaptation ofPersuader, the seventh book in Child’s series,Reacherseason 3 has little use for most of the show’s past actors. Interestingly, that hasn’t completely prevented Amazon from recalling certain figures and deviating from the source material.
Alan Ritchson As Jack Reacher

Character: After leaving behind most of the surviving members of the110th Special Investigations Unit inReacherseason 2, Ritchson’s character once more begins the third run of episodes as a wandering lone wolf. That being said, his talent for leadership and strong skill set means he’s pretty much always capable of rounding up as much help as he needs whenever he runs into trouble. Reacher is often the linchpin in most plans, although season 3 sees him operating in an even smaller group of allies than usual, and it’s not his plan either.

Before being cast as Frances Neagley, the Danish-born actress didn’t have many notable acting credits. That being said, she did still have quite a lot of experience.The 2008 Miss Denmark Universe popped up briefly in 2015’sStraight Outta Comptonin an uncredited role, then went on to appear in several smaller projects before entering the DC universe as Liz Tremayne in 9 episodes of the now-canceledSwamp Thingin 2019.

Character: Neagley served with Reacher in the 110th, and the pair have maintained an on-again/off-again friendship/camaraderie since resuming civilian life. What’s perhaps the most interesting thing about Neagley inReacherseason 3 is her presence in any capacity.Neagley isn’t inPersuader, so including her in the show at this point is a huge deviation from the source material. However, it also lends a stronger sense of consistency that the books intentionally lack. It was announced afterReacherseason 2 that aNeagley spinoff showhad been greenlit.

She appeared as Hester in 8 episodes of the Isaac Asimov-inspiredHumansin 2016, but her most-reprised role remains Liz Dudly inLodge 49.

Therefore, he tends to find new love interests as he wanders.

Character: Paulie is one of the biggest threats to Ritchson’s character inReacherseason 3, if not the biggest. PreviousReachervillains have fallen very short of the main character’s physicality, butPaulie surpasses Reacher in both height and physical strength. He’s one of the key figures in the criminal organization that Reacher is infiltrating, and theReacherseason 3 trailer quickly revealed the two would come to blows.

The show’s third season brings in many other roles of varying importance to move the story along
Amazon’s take onPersuaderis filled with characters from the book, but also new characters who have been created especially for the show. WhileReacherseason 3 is very similar to the source material, the difference in medium means there have had to be additions and alterations made, and those tweaks ultimately caused new characters to arise organically. They don’t all have a huge impact on the larger story, and some are only there for worldbuilding purposes, but they all play at least a small role inReacherseason 3.
