Ready or Not 2is a go. The original 2019 movie, made by Radio Silence (which includes directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett as well as executive producer Chad Villella), followed a young bride (Samara Weaving) playing a deadly game of hide and seek with her new groom’s family, who have made a deal with the sinister Le Bail in exchange for their great wealth. Though thesequelReady or Not 2wasn’t immediately greenlit, it was both a critical and commercial success, earning a Certified Fresh score of 89% and grossing $57.6 million worldwide against its $6 million budget.
Deadlinehas revealed thatReady or Not 2is now officially in development. Radio Silence made the announcement that they would be making the sequel at a screening of the original movie late Saturday night. Although the production timeline and release date were not revealed by the filmmaking collective, they confirmed that original star Samara Weaving is also set to return. Her character has not been confirmed, but it seems likely that she will return to the role of her original 2019 character, Grace.

Radio Silence Is Returning To Their Original Hit
While the sequel to theSamara Weaving horror moviewas not announced until half a decade later,Ready or Not 2has been in development for some time. Radio Silence has repeatedly confirmed that the script is written, including tellingEntertainment Weeklythat it’s “an absolute f–king banger” in April. The movie may have finally been officially confirmed in an attempt to make another commercial success after the disappointing box office of their most recent movie, the vampire horror-comedyAbigail. It only grossed $42.4 million against its $28 million budget, which likely necessitated a $70.5 million gross to break even.
Samara Weaving has already reunited with Radio Silence by taking a role in the opening sequence of their 2023 movieScream VI.
However, theReady or Notendingdoes not leave a clear pathway for a sequel. While Grace does survive,she seems to have left the sinister family and their hide and seek game behindfor good. However, it may prove to be the case that, even though she was not ultimately destroyed by Le Bail’s curse, it still hangs over her head after marrying into the family. Alternately, another family who is involved with Le Bail may come after her, seeking revenge.

Radio Silence Has Finally Forged Their Own Horror Franchise
While it remains to be seen if a return to the hide and seek thriller will be as fruitful as the original movie, the announcement ofReady or Not 2is exciting. The upcomingRadio Silence movieis even more promising in the wake of their work onScream(2022) andScream VI, which proved their facility with sequels by becoming both critical and commercial successes. This will marktheir first sequel to one of their own original projects, offering them an opportunity to prove that they are as good at expanding their own franchises as those from other creators.

In 2024, Radio Silence confirmed the script for Ready or Not 2 had been developed. The original film follows a young woman as she is married into a family besieged by a curse - but to enter into the family, those who marry must play a game as dictated by their family’s eternal specter, the demon LeBail.
