A big part ofResident Alien’s appeal is the fantastic chemistry and various dynamics that exist between the sci-fi dramedy’s characters, and the upcoming season is set to shake things up between two figures in particular.Resident Alienseason 3’s endingmade some strong suggestions about where the story is headed when the show returns. While some cliffhangers were more dramatic than others, they all had a lot of potential going intoResident Alienseason 4. However, one of the finale’s scenes has big implications for one of the show’s long-standing relationships.

Although certain characters have come and gone since the show began in 2021, the coreResident Aliencasthas remained the same. This level of consistency has allowed the fictitious residents of Patience, Colorado to develop strong ties to each other that have evolved as the story has unfolded. There’s no doubt thatthe stakes will be higher than ever inResident Alienseason 4, which will strain even the most persistent of partnerships.

Corey Reynolds as Mike in Resident Alien looking sad

Liv’s Experience With Alien Matters Will Make It More Difficult For Mike To Maintain His Leadership Role

Despite being a brilliant deputy, Elizabeth’s Bowen’s Liv Baker has been playing second fiddle to Corey Reynolds' Sheriff Mike Thompson sinceResident Alienbegan. Although Mike has gotten better at giving his deputy the praise she deserves, he has remained in place as the leader of the duo. Even when it’s clear that Liv is doing most of the heavy lifting,Mike’s authority doesn’t tend to slip. That being said, Mike’s discovery of a dead Grey Alien in the season 3 finale, “Homecoming,” will surely put him out of his depth going into the new run ofResident Alienepisodes.

Liv is a staunch believer in life from beyond the stars and has therefore conducted a lot of research on the matter.

As in reality, the existence of alien life is hotly debated in the world of the show. Liv is a staunch believer in life from beyond the stars and has therefore conducted a lot of research on the matter. Inversely,Mike had long believed aliens to be nothing but a hoax. Unfortunately for him, “Homecoming” has inarguably made him incorrect. Although the revelation will likely bring Mike into the heart of the fight, it would make sense if he became subservient to Liz due to the vast amount of knowledge she has on the subject when compared to the sheriff.

Why Mike’s New Role In Resident Alien Season 4 Will Be a Huge Adjustment For Him

Corey Reynolds' character isn’t used to taking orders

Mike isn’t a man who is used to finding out he’s wrong. He’s proud to the point of detriment, as proven by his almost-failed relationship with Nicola Correia-Damude’s Detective Lena Torres. Finally accepting that he has a severe lack of knowledge and experience with a task such as fighting aliens isn’t something that will come easily to a character like Mike. In addition, the fact thathe’s freshly removed from capitulating in his relationship with Lenawill make him extra sensitive to further changes.

10 Cameos From Sci-Fi Stars I’d Love To See In Resident Alien Season 4

I love the slew of guest stars from sci-fi TV shows and movies that show up in Resident Alien, and I want to see the trend continue into season 4.

DespiteMike’s growth inResident Alienseason 3, it’s still very possible that he’ll refuse to give up his leadership position to his deputy - officially or otherwise. Lacking knowledge about something hasn’t stopped him from faking it in the past, but there has rarely been so much on the line as there will be in the story’s upcoming continuation. If Mike doesn’t let Liv take change, he could be risking the lives of most otherResident Aliencharacters.
