There’s no denying the brilliant chemistry of theResident Aliencast, but there are members of the sci-fi dramedy’s lineup who are creating issues regarding the show’s future. Fortunately, there’s a wayResident Alienseason 4can rectify this casting problem to reduce the impact of any further damage. It only pertains to two specific members of theResident Aliencast, but they’ve been key figures in the story since the show’s debut back in 2021.

Resident Alienseason 3’s cliffhanger endingwill be resolved when the show returns, thanks to the show jumping from Syfy to USA Network following a tense wait to see if it could avoid cancelation. So, although fans will be relieved to see the return ofAlan Tudyk’s Harry Vanderspeigleand the other residents of Patience, Colorado, the show still has an interesting challenge ahead that other projects have also faced.

Resident Alien’s Younger Stars Are Growing Up Too Quickly For The Show’s Timeline

Max & Sahar’s ages don’t align with those of their characters

Judah Prehn and Gracelyn Awad Rinke have played Max Hawthorne and Sahar Karimi respectively inResident Aliensince season 1. Their dynamic has been excellent through the first three seasons, butthey’ve also been growing up at a rate that doesn’t quite align withResident Alien’s timeline. This is understandable given the actors' ages, as their adult colleagues don’t physically change quite as much in the months between shoots as they do, but it’s still something that’s easy to notice each time the show comes back.

Resident Alienseason 2 made at least a token attempt to explain Max’s jump forward in age, when he started to experience some premature signs of puberty such as sudden facial and body hair when he stole Harry’s alien ball. However, no justification has been given for Sahar’s age disparity compared to the actor playing her. Plus, a social media post onResident Alien’s Instagram page shows both child stars have grown even more significantlywhile waiting to shoot the fourth season. This could cause notable narrative issues, but there’s a fitting workaround.

How Resident Alien Season 4 Can Finally Allow Max & Sahar’s Ages To Make Sense Again

Harry’s incarceration is the key

Harry ended the most recent finale as a prisoner ofResident Alien’s Grey Aliensaboard their massiveStar Wars-inspired moon ship. On Earth, the shapeshifting Mantid has taken Harry’s formand is currently masquerading as Tudyk’s character. Most worryingly, Max and Sahar discovered the Mantid’s ruse and were presumably taken hostage to prevent his cover from being blown. So, to give the Mantid time to fully integrate himself into Patience’s community and convince everyone he is actually Harry,Resident Alienseason 4 needs a time jump.

Resident Alien Season 4 Is Adding A Dark Twist To This Character Who Has Already Suffered Enough

Some Resident Alien characters have suffered more than others, but the show’s upcoming run is gearing up to put one figure through even more distress.

Obviously,Resident Alienseason 4’s new villainwould need to split his time between pretending to be Harry, Max, and also Sahar. It’s unclear how long he could keep up such a complex and deceptive scheme, but a few months isn’t completely out of the question. If he is very careful, he could even stretch this to a year. So, when Prehn and Rinke return to theResident Aliencast, the fact they’ll have grown again won’t present the same problems as it has in the past.
