Warning! This article contains spoilers for Severance season 2, episode 6.
InSeveranceseason 2, episode 6, Helena follows Mark to a Chinese restaurant, begging the question of why. Helena and Mark’s relationship is one of the more enticing pairings ofSeverance’s cast of characters, which is ironic given that their brief meeting in the restaurant is the first time they have officially met. The reason for this is due to the differences between theirInnies and Outies inSeverance, with the former personalities of both being incredibly close.

AsSeveranceseason 2, episode 5’s endingproved, however, the line between Mark’s Innie and Outie is growing blurry. Not only is this due to his Reintegration starting to take effect, but Helena also seems to be drawn to Mark. This was showcased above all else duringSeveranceseason 2, episode 4’s ORTBO experience, before being further developed in episode 6. As Mark takes a break from Reintegration to get some Chinese food, Helena somewhat hijacks his meal, throwing her true motivations behind her infatuation with Mark even more into question than they already were.

One of the first potential reasons for Helena following Mark stems from a pure business perspective. As the next CEO of Lumon, Helena is still committed to the future of the company despite hints that she is unhappy with her life. During the scene in the restaurant inSeveranceseason 2, episode 6, Helena questions Mark’s experience as a severed worker, even bringing up the Overtime Contingency Protocol that was highlighted inSeveranceseason 1’s ending.
What “Overtime Contingency” Means In Severance & How It Works
The “overtime contingency” becomes the most crucial driver of Severance’s story towards the end of season 1, raising many questions about how it works
Of course, Mark is not expected to know many answers about his work life due to the severed procedure that gives the show its premise. That said, this could indicate that Lumon may know about Mark’s Reintegration. After all, the last time Innie Mark was shown at Lumon in the episode, he was bleeding from his nose and having Outie memories in front of Miss Huang. It could be the case that Lumon suspects Mark has undergone Reintegration and is testing him to find out if it is true, as explained by Helena’s questions.

Does Helena Have Feelings For Mark In Severance Season 2?
The Love Pentagon Continues To Spiral In Severance
Another possible motivation for Helena finding Mark is much more personal for her. ThroughoutSeveranceseason 2, it has been hinted that Helena’s love life is not fulfilling, from her viewing the security tape of her Innie kissing Mark to longingly staring at his Outie when he enters work. This took a significant step forward when Helena willingly slept with Mark’s Innie during the aforementioned ORTBO, which indicates she either wished to experience one night of romantic connection or that her feelings for Mark are genuine.
If the latter is true, she could have hijacked Mark’s dinner simply as an excuse to get close to him. Now that Helena cannot pretend to be Helly anymore, she can no longer pursue a relationship with Mark’s Innie. However, that is not to say she cannot try and have a relationship with Mark’s Outie, with their convenient meeting inSeveranceseason 2, episode 6 potentially being an attempt by her to kickstart this.
