Below Deck Down Under’sWihan du Toit is following in the illustrious footsteps of Bosun’s past by being unprofessional on the job, andI don’t think he should have ever been hired. It’s the first season ofBelow DeckforWihan, a seasoned yachtie who hails from South Africa. As the Bosun, it’s his job to run the exterior crew of the motor yacht Katina, which is based in the Seychelles this season.

Like many Bosuns who came before him (I’m looking at you, Gary King),Wihan’s unprofessionalism is apparent, and he lets his personal life get in the way of his job. In addition to Wihan’s multiple inappropriate relationships with several women on the crew onBelow Deck Down Underseason 3, he struggles with authority, is rude to his colleagues, and can’t take criticism. Wihan never should have been hired, and I’m not sure he’ll make it through the rest of the season without getting let go.

Wihan Is Inappropriate With The Women

“Boatmances” are nothing new in theBelow Deckuniverse, but even rookies know you shouldn’t hook up with multiple crew members in one season. Despite having so much yachting experience,Wihan didn’t seem familiar with that concept.Wihan first set his sights on Stew Brianna Duffield, but she preferred deckhand, Harry Van Vliet, so Wihan shifted his affections to both Chef Tzarina Mace-Randolph and Stew Marina Marcondes de Barros, resulting in a fun little love triangle for the trio.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

After kissing Tzarina, Wihan accepted a date with Marina, whom he also kissed. Tzarina and Marina then began competing for Wihan’s affection, which caused tension for the interior crew, and even though he told them both (on the same night) he wasn’t interested, he ended up making out with Tzarina again. Talk about mixed signals.

Then, after working everyone up because of his actions, he decided he wasn’t interested in Marina or Tzarina. He was interested in Adair Werley, who happens to be on the exterior crew, which Wihan leads. Doesn’t sound like a conflict of interest at all, right? Oh, and Adair had no idea Wihan had any interest in her, as she’d been busy doing her job this entire season and not getting involved in the crew drama. Adair had no idea what was about to hit her.

Wihan’s Note To Adair Made Her Workplace Uncomfortable

Wihan’s Note Was Cringeworthy

After working everyone up and forcing Tzarina and Marina to compete for him,Wihan took a wild swing when he decided he had feelings for Adair, the hard-working deckhand from Georgia. Her southern accent hooked Wihan, but she didn’t seem to look at him with anything other than professionalism. While the two worked sweeping up the deck, Wihan explained to Adair that he had feelings for someone, but it wouldn’t be right because they “work together” before telling her he thought she was “really cool.”

“Oh my god. Wihan and I are a great team, but he just doesn’t really seem like my type of guy. I want my guy to have a nice southern accent and drive a big lifted truck. Do you think Wihan’s gonna pull up and roll the window down in the lifted King Ranch? No. Wihan drives a Mini Cooper.”

Adair handled it like a pro, telling him he was sweet, but she wanted to take things slow. Any woman who’s been in that type of situation can relate to not wanting to reject someone, especially your boss, who could retaliate professionally.Wihan made her uncomfortable as he told her he hoped things wouldn’t be uncomfortable now.

Below Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason Is Too Unserious This Season (I Think His Captain’s Lounge Gimmick Was A Misfire)

Below Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason Chambers was on full display in the Captain’s Lounge episode, but did his robe gimmick go too far?

I can’t even explain how Wihan’s behavior towards Adair was inappropriate. He’s her superior and tells her he has feelings for her without any context or anything between the two. He’d just made out with two other women on the boat, but now, he’s coming for Adair, and thisputs Adair in an extremely awkward situation professionally.

Well,Wihan decides he needs to make it worsefor Adair by writing down his feelings for her in a letter. Wihan gathers up all his big boy feelings and puts pen to paper, telling her he’s always thinking about when he’s going to see her “beautiful green eyes” again while they’re working.

“Adair, while country music is playing in the background, clearly those beautiful green eyes and beautiful smile has taken over and all I’m thinking about is the next time I’m seeing you again… Adair, I know we are working together and spending a lot of time together. I want to keep it professional at all times, but I won’t lie and say I don’t have feelings for you.”

Below Deck Down Under

This is not the kind of review a woman wants from her boss. Harry tried to talk Wihan out of giving the letter to Adair, but Wihan boasted to Harry that the letter had “a lot of depth in there.” Now Adair can have fun trying to navigate this for the rest of the season.

Wihan Can’t Take Criticism

Wihan And Lara Butted Heads

Chief Stew Lara Rigby has had Wihan’s number all season. She saw the way he pitted two of her team against each other with the Tzarina-Marina love triangle, and she wasn’t having it. She called him out for it, and even though he avoided any sort of accountability, I’m glad Lara spoke up.

“Don’t mess with my girls.”

When Lara asked Wihan to have the exterior crew pitch in for dinner, Wihan got salty with her, saying his team was too busy, despite Lara saying she saw them sitting around quite a bit. Wihan tries to hear her out but deflects, saying the exterior helping with the interior is a “gray area” for him. In a confessional, Lara says Wihan is a selfish guy who doesn’t take initiative as a leader. Wihan is annoyed by how Lara is “monitoring” his crew, and I think he purposely defies her for that reason rather than take her criticisms constructively.

Wihan Is Rude To Coworkers

Wihan Is Dismissive To Alesia

Wihan’s unprofessional streak continues when he asks thenew Sous Chef, Alesia Harris, to make him a cheeseboard. When she questions whether it’s for the guests, Wihan admits that it’s for him and Adair, whom he plans to ask out. Alesia rightfully pushes back on his request, saying, “Ithink you should make your own cheeseboard.”

8 Below Deck Down Under Cast Members Who Are Bigger Villains Than Captain Jason Chambers (He’s Only Doing His Job)

Jason Chambers has been accused of being a villain on Below Deck Down Under, but these eight cast members are way more villainous than the Captain.

Alesia then innocently asks Wihan if Adair is put off by how he’s “gone through half the crew,” which sets Wihan off. He denies he liked any of the other crew members, which isn’t the point. Wihan tries to pull rank in a confessional, saying Alesia has time to make him a cheeseboard since she’s “just a sous chef.” Alesia continues to brush him off, which causes Wihan to remark that she has “no respect” for him. Sounds about right.

Alesia doesn’t have respect for Wihan, andafter his antics this season, nobody else should either. He should be fired for his attitude and work ethic, but also needs to be held accountable for his behavior towards the women, especially Adair. She has to work with him all season, knowing he has feelings for her and could fly off the handle if she rejects him. Wihan’s actions created an unhealthy working environment for Adair, and for that reason alone, he should be let go.
