A new clip from Disney’sSnow Whiteoffers a closer look at an original new song.Snow White’s castis led by Rachel Zegler, who plays the titular princess, whileWonder Womanstar Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen. Directed by Marc Webb and with a screenplay co-written by Greta Gerwig,Snow Whitejoins Disney’s growing number of live-action remakes. It was originally slated for a March 2024 release, which was pushed back to July 25, 2025, due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
On X (formerly Twitter),Disneyhasshared a closer look at “Waiting On a Wish,” a new original song performed by Zegler and written for the 2025 movie. The song begins with lyrics about how Snow was told by her father that she was born during a terrible snowstorm, which is the basis for the character’s name in this version of the story. As the song continues, she sings about wanting to leave the walls of the castle behind her and holding out for a miracle to become who she is meant to be. Check out the clip below:

What This Means For Disney’s Snow White
“Waiting On A Wish” Proves Why Rachel Zegler Was The Right Casting Choice
The clip teases thatZegler’s acting and her vocal performance will be among the greatest strengths of theSnow Whiteremake.Rachel Zegler’s best movies–The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,West Side Story, andSpellbound–all thrive whenever her characters sing. This will likely also be the case inSnow White. Zegler has phenomenal singing and acting talent, both of which are on full display in “Waiting On a Wish,” written by Benji Pasek and Justin Paul.
The song not only reveals details about Snow’s past, but helps flesh out her inner conflict and overarching motivations.

While the movie will be adapting many classic elements from the animatedSnow Whitemovie released in 1937, it has also found ways to update and enhance the story. “Waiting On a Wish” looks to be a prime example of that, as the song not only reveals details about Snow’s past, but helps flesh out her inner conflict and overarching motivations. This is one of several ways that Zegler’s version of Snow will be more developed than the 1937 version of the character.
Our Take On The “Waiting On A Wish” Clip
It Makes Snow White More Promising Than Other Disney Live-Action Remakes
WhileSnow White’s controversieshave dominated the discourse leading up to the movie’s release, the “Waiting On a Wish” clip is a promising sign of how the remake will break more new ground than its live-action predecessors. Many of the Disney live-action remakes have done little to distinguish themselves from their animated counterparts.“Waiting On a Wish” and other new original songs can help distinguishSnow Whitefrom the 1937 movieand help make this remake feel warranted.
