In chapter #62 ofSpy x Family,it was revealed that Loid’s friends and family died during the war between Ostania and Westalis. This traumatic loss is whatpushed him to try and become the world’s greatest spy, in an attempt to prevent children from suffering the way he did. His desire to create a better world led him to sacrifice many things, from his former identity to his emotions. After becoming an agent of W.I.S.E., Twilight renounced any semblance of a normal life, staying distant from anyone trying to form a connection with him.
Still, once he was forced to create a fake family, as was required for Operation Strix, his plans of staying stoic and alone crumbled before his eyes. Despite how much Anya’s father tries to refute it, he is slowly but surely beginning to see his wife, daughter, and even dog, asmore than just assets for him to use. Many times in the series, fans have witnessed Loid going against his usual behavior all because of his family. This trend seems to occur around Yor more often than with the others.
For example, in chapter #30, when Fionna Frost visited the Forger household for the first time, she noticed thatTwilight’s smile when talking to Yor was not fake. Agent Nightfall had familiarized herself with Loid’s acting skills, and she realized that his happiness when around his wife was becoming genuine. Another great example of Loid becoming more vulnerable around Yor appears in chapter #86. After his arduous battle against the Secret Police and W.I.S.E.’s mole,the mere sight of her smile instantly made his body relax, causing him to fall to the floor exhausted.
