How To Play Kessel Sabacc In Star Wars Outlaws

All The Rules & How To Use Them

The main things to know about Kessel Sabacc are that there arealways three other players at the table,no matter whatplanet you are on inStar Wars Outlaws, and that it costs money to do almost everything. Themoney spent will be the money wonat the end of the game, so keep in mind that you may not get back what you put in if you have an unfortunate round. The amount invested by all players is always shown when you buy in.

You can do a few actions on your turn, includingdrawing a card, using a Shift Token, cheating, or standing. As per the rules, you can draw from either deck or the discard pile, but you will end your turn with only one of each card color in your hand. There areyellow (Sand) and red (Blood) cards, and your ultimate goal is for the two cards to have a matching number.

Playing Sabacc in Star Wars Outlaws

Allcards are numbered one to six, with the lower the value the better your hand. If you have two ones, for example, there is only one type of hand that can beat yours. Two matching cards are known as a Sabacc hand, and that is what will win you the round.

If more than one player has a Sabacc hand, the lower value wins. This means a pair of threes will beat a pair of sixes.

If you may’t get a matching pair, thenext best hand to have would be to have a difference of one. So if you have a three and a four, you would be in fairly good shape. The higher the difference between your cards, the worse off you are. So asix and a one would be the worst handyou could have.

Drawing a card will cost a chip, and you will typically start with four chips at the beginning of a game. If you win the round, your chips come back. If you don’t, those are gone. The exception to this is if you come in second despite having a Sabacc Hand, in which caseyou only lose one chip. You can always stand if you like the look of your hand and have no other actions.

Special Cards In Kessel Sabacc

Sylop & Imposter Cards

There aretwo types of special cards in Kessel Sabacc, much like in Poker where you can have Jokers. The first is known as the Sylop card, which automatically matches the number of the other card in your hand. This is a great card to get, and if you do manage to snag one, you’ll know that the other players do not have one of that color. This is because there isonly one copy of a Sylop card in each deck- one yellow and one red.

If you happen to draw both the yellow and red Sylop card, this is consideredPure Sabaccand you have won the round and most likely the game as well.

Imposter cards are much trickier and much riskier. They are blank, and youhave to perform a dice roll to determine what number is actually on the card. You roll two dice and pick one to match the card to, but thisdoes not happen until the end of the roundso you do not know how well you have done until it’s too late.

Helpful Actions

Currently, theexact number and name of every Shift Token is unknown, but there are quite a few that can greatly affect how you play your games of Sabacc. Many of them can be won at various Sabacc tables, whileothers can be purchased from Smugglers or found in various treasure chests.

One of the best Shift Tokens, and a great example of why you should use them, isRefund, which allows you to retrieve two spent chips. This could help you recover in a round if you spent all your chips in the previous one. The trick is that you canonly bring three Shift Tokens into each match, and they can all only be used once.

Notably, you can also useShift Tokens to protect yourself against others.

Going Against The Rules

Both the Lando and Teeka Experts have unlockable cheats inStar Wars Outlawsas well. This includesTeeka’s chest, Magnetic Dice, which lets you control the dice roll, andPlan A from Lando, which allows you to take two cards instead of one when you draw. These are both very helpful cheats as long as you can get away with them.
