While fishing, aStardew Valleyplayer got one of the luckiest possible drops - but when they shared it online, the community was so baffled by their use of inventory space that they barely even noticed. InStardew Valley, one of the greatest challenges is managing your limited inventory. You start with one row of 12 items, but can eventually unlock a second and third row by purchasing the Large Pack for 2,000 g, then the Deluxe Pack for 10,000. Both are pretty expensive in the early game, but are still important investments because of how much time they save.
But some players just don’t know what to do with all that extra space. Reddit userWolfyKing1823recently shared a screenshot of theirStardew Valleygame, showing their incredibly lucky haul from a treasure chest they found while fishing: both aDinosaur Eggand anAncient Seedin just one shot. But their fellow community members focused instead on their overstuffed inventory, which included items as diverse, bizarre, and useless for fishing as ten mugs of beer, two scythes, and no fewer than six slingshots. And theStardewcommunity responded with a little good-natured clowning.

Stardew Valley Player Finds A Dinosaur Egg In A Pond, But Their Inventory Is Nightmarish
Occasionally, whilefishing inStardew Valley, a treasure chest will appear alongside your fishing bar. If you manage to hover your cursor over it for long enough to fill its own mini progress bar, then catch the fish you’re currently angling for, you’ll get a few random items. It’s usually useful, if nothing to write home about - things like a little bit of wood, a few pieces ofBait, maybe, if you’re lucky,an artifact or two. But once in a blue moon, you’ll get something really nice, just as this player did: a simultaneous Dinosaur Egg and Ancient Seed.
These items are so sought-after becausethey’re key to two of the most lucrative farm operations you can set upinStardew. Dinosaur Eggs will let you start raising dinosaurs in your coop, which, in turn, gives you access to more Dinosaur Eggs, which you can process intoDinosaur Mayonnaiseand sell for up to 1,120 g a pop. After youdonate your first Ancient Seed, you’ll get a plantable version, which you can cultivate in your greenhouse, age into wine with a keg, then mature to iridium quality to sell Ancient Fruit Wine for up to 4,620 g a bottle.

Suffice it to say that the original poster is very fortunate, and, if they use these materials right, will probably be set for life as far as farming goes. But most players could only focus on their abysmal use of inventory space, which meant they didn’t even have room for all the items they had just been lucky enough to find. What’s more, they brought several items along with them that have absolutely no use for fishing- even an unfinished book, which there’s no point in saving.
Our Take: Stardew Valley Fans Share Their Hilarious Takes On The Bag Space
“I Think This Screenshot Gave Me Hives”
Many players barely even acknowledged the original poster’s lucky find, insteadchoosing to emphasize just how rough their inventory really looked. They’d have to throw out three items just to cram in their fishing haul. One user, shmelse, said it all with this skin-crawling comparison:
Other commenters attempted to be more helpful. There’s a clear remedy to inventory overstuffing, userstardewandsmoke1225explained, and that’sbuilding a few chests. While they suggested going out and planting some new wild trees, the original poster had 911 pieces of wood in their inventory - planting wouldn’t even be necessary, as they could build 18Chestsjust with what they already had.
Look, at the end of the day, we’re all guilty of a little hoarding. Somewhere in the deepest, darkest recesses of my farm, I have a chest full of almost every iridium quality fish I’ve ever caught, which I save every year for the grange display. All these jokes come from a place of genuine care for aStardew Valleyplayer, hoping that they can improve and stop wasting so many materials every time they go out fishing.
