Superman’s Greatest Weakness is About to Be the Most Common Resource on Earth

Superman Unlimited by Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque, available June 01, 2025

It was only a few months agothat DC All In beganand the initiative has been full of non-stop twists and unexpected developments. In Superman’s corner of the DC Universe, his life has been full of surprises. Not only did Clark ventureinto the Phantom Zone, allowing him to travel to Krypton’s past, but he’s also been an integral part of the recently revived Justice League. And that’s not even getting into how his relationship with Lois has changed now that she’s become Superwoman or how there’sa Superman variant in the Absolute Universe who’s coming into his own.

Those developments aside, prepare for more changes to come. DC’s announcement forSuperman Unlimitednoted that this summer would begin its epic “Summer of Superman” initiative. Aside from the influx of kryptonite, a merger is going to be taking the Daily Planet global, with Lois Lane serving as editor-in-chief of the media empire. From Gotham to Gorilla City (and aided by the goddaughter of King Solovar), the Daily Planet’s reach will extend all over the DC Universe.Superman Unlimitedpromises a lot of big things for the Man of Steel, but how much of it will be for the better?

DC’s New Status Quo Just Changed Everything for the Man of Steel

Superman’s no stranger to kryptonite and even has a few dedicated rogues that utilize it frequently (Metallo, the Kryptonite Man, etc). But things are going to get a lot more complicated when anyone can suddenly procure kryptonite weaponry. Even a small sliver can do serious damage to Clark (or any Kryptonian), and if a huge influx suddenly comes to Earth, that’s going to force Superman to completely rethink how he fights crime. If he’s not careful,Superman could easily be taken down by a single bullet tipped with kryptonite.

Of course, he’s got a lot of assets on his side, such as the dramatically expanded Justice League and the now global Daily Planet. But the announcement for Superman Unlimited makes it clear that it’s ushering in a new chapter for the Man of Steel’s life, and it’s going to take some time forSupermanto get used to this unbelievable new normal.
