Tedhas received a major production update. The Peacock comedy show, which was created by Seth MacFarlane, is a prequel to his two-part movie franchise of the same name and follows the titular sentient teddy bear as he and his human best friend John Bennett (Max Burkholder, taking over for Mark Wahlberg, who played the character as an adult in the movies) have a variety of adventures in the early 1990s. The upcomingTedseason 2was renewed in May 2024, just four months after season 1 dropped in its entirety on the streaming platform.
On his official Instagram account,Seth MacFarlane, who directed the entirety of season 1 in addition to writing certain episodes, shared a post with an image of Ted celebrating. The caption announced thatTedseason 2 has officially wrapped production. MacFarlane thanked the cast and crew who helped bring the show to life, teasing that it will be “the funniest season yet!” See the original post below:

What This Means For Ted Season 2
The Show’s Release Date Looms
While season 2 has officially wrapped production, this does not mean that it will be heading to Peacock any time soon. At the time of writing, its official release date is still unknown, but like any show, it will have to go through post-production before it is ready to air. The fact that theTedcastis led by a CGI character complicates this process, as it will require the use of extensive visual effects. For an idea of how long this might take, see the production timeline for season 1 below:
August 13, 2025
August 07, 2025
It is also unknown if season 2 will premiere its episodes all at once or weekly, though if it is the latter, it could potentially premiere before the entirety of post-production is complete. This would allow it to have a slightly more truncated hiatus between the end of principal photography and its premiere. However, if it follows the show’s previous precedent, there will likely be no follow up onTedseason 1 endinguntil at least March 2026, whichwould give the show a hiatus of more than two years.
Our Take On The Ted Season 2 Update
This Announcement Is An Important Step
While it could still be some time beforeTedreturns to Peacock, the fact that principal photography has wrapped is a positive step for the Seth MacFarlane comedy. Several months after its renewal was confirmed, reports stated thatseason 2 was almost cancelled while still in pre-productionbecause of the $8 million per-episode budget required by the visual effects-heavy series. While the show could still face budgetary issues during post-production, this announcement means that it is one step closer to being finished properly.
