Themanga adaptationof Nigojū’sThe Detective is Already Deadlight novel series will be taking a short break, the February issue of Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine revealed.

The series will return in the magazine’s May issue, set to release March 26, and will begin adapting the light novels' third volume. The current arc concluded with the release of an epilogue on December 25. The December issue stated in October that the manga was nearing its conclusion on November 27.

Nigojū’sThe Detective is Already Deadlight novel series runs as a part of Media Factory’s MF Bunko J imprint. The novelsfirst started publicationin 2019, and have amassed 6 collected volumesthroughout the series runso far. The novel series is illustrated by Umibōzu.

A 12-episode anime adaptation from Studio ENGI aired during the Summer 2021 season. The series was directed by Manabu Kurihara, and written by Hitomi Mieno under the alias Deko Akao. Kurihara is best known for his work onBleach,while Mieno contributed toseries likeGintama, Noragami,andKomi Can’t Communicateas a writer and has also been credited with various theme song performances.

Themanga adaptationis illustrated by Mugiko, and has been in serialization since May 2020. The manga has amassed 4 collected volumes throughout its run and inspired a spin-off series,The Detective Is Already Dead: The Lost Memory.Lost Memoryalso runs in Monthly Comic Alive, having begun serialization in January 2021. The series features illustrations by Poni and has accumulated 2 collected volumes throughout its run so far.

Yen Press licenses the light novel and manga adaptations in English. Funimation streamed the anime series as it aired as well as the English dub.
