Daredevil: Born Againfeatures a few excellent villains, and one has replaced a version previously played by Colin Farrell. TheMCUfaced plenty of pressure to continue Netflix’sDaredevilcorrectly. Many were worried that the series wouldn’t continue the show’s dark, brutal tone, but those concerns were thrown out the window in the show’s opening scene. Wilson Bethel’sBullseye returned and caused a shocking death, in addition to many other people at the bar and apartment complex.

Bethel’s Bullseye was a complete sociopath in the Netflix series, and it doesn’t seem like anything has changed. He’s a frightening, intimidating assassin who kills anyone in his way. Audiences will remember him as the villain who killed a beloved character, making him one of the most loathsome Marvel characters. Bethel’s portrayal of Bullseye is almost perfect, but he isn’t the first actor to portray him, as Farrell previously played the villainin 2003’sDaredevil. Farrell’s Bullseye is one of the film’s highlights, but Bethel has replaced him as the definitive Bullseye.

Colin Farrell’s Bullseye Was A Rare High-Point In Fox’s Daredevil

Farrell may be best known now by DC viewers forhis portrayal of The PenguininThe Batmanand HBO’sThe Penguin. However, before he donned the fat suit and Italian accent, he played Bullseye a.k.a. Benjamin Poindexter in 2003’sDaredevil. The film featured many of the same characters seen in the Netflix series, including Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock, Jon Favreau as Foggy Nelson, Ellen Pompeo as Karen Page, Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin, andJennifer Garner as Elektra. However, the film was largely panned by critics and audiences and never got a sequel.

Still, it has an impressive cast, and Farrell is a highlight, despite the film’s goofy tone.Like Arnold Schwarzenegger inBatman & Robin, Farrell is aware of what kind of movie he’s in and constantly chews up the scenery. It’s a bizarre performance, but also one that’s so entertaining to watch. While he is an assassin-for-hire, he enjoys killing anyone who annoys him, including an old lady on a plane who wouldn’t stop talking. It may not be the Bullseye portrayal Marvel comic book readers hoped for, but he did the best he could with the material.

Marvel’s New Bullseye Is Superior, Even Without Some Comics Accuracy

Bullseye is an incredibly complex and compelling villain.Daredevil season 3 did an excellent job of fleshing out his backstory. It doesn’t justify any of his actions, but it does show that Poindexter is a mentally unwell character who exhibits antisocial behavior. He shows no remorse for killing, and often goes on violent rampages, leaving several people dead who aren’t even his targets. He’s also easily manipulated by others who pretend to show him kindness so that he’ll do their dirty work, as Kingpin demonstrates in season 3.

Daredevil: Born Again Better Bring Back Bullseye

While Daredevil: Born Again episode 3 ups the ante with a shocking twist despite Benjamin Poindexter’s absence, Bullseye’s return may be inevitable.

While he doesn’t have the trademark Bullseye on his helmet, Poindexter does have comic-accurate abilities. He’s an expert marksman and can shoot or throw anything with perfect aim. Daredevil may beat him in an up-close fight, but Bullseye has the upper hand if he comes across any weapons. Farrell’s Bullseye could be more entertaining, but Bethel’s Bullseye is a more captivating and intimidating character. Hopefully, he’ll return for a rematch with Matt Murdock inDaredevil: Born Again.
