In the upcomingDaredevil: Born Againseries, Marvel Studios has the perfect opportunity to address one Defenders Saga mystery that I never thought would be mentioned in theMCUafterDaredevil’scancelation. In early 2024, Marvel confirmed that the Defenders Saga, which originally comprised six Marvel Television shows released on Netflix between 2015 and 2019, is officially canon to the MCU. This made me very excited, as it meant that the newDaredevil: Born Againseries could resolve some ofDaredevil’smost annoying loose ends.
Much of the originalcast ofDaredevilhas already been confirmed to be returningin Marvel Studios' upcomingDaredevil: Born Again, including Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and more. With the series expected to pick up a number of years afterDaredevilseason 3’s finale, however, I’m very interested to see how these characters and stories have changed.Daredevil: Born Againcan also finally address some ofDaredevil’sbiggest mysteries, and bringing back yet another character would accomplish this.

Stone Only Appeared In 1 Episode Of Netflix’s Daredevil Series, But Created Some Major Marvel Mysteries In That Time
Stone Appeared In Daredevil Season 1, Episode 7, “Stick”
Portrayed physically by Jasson Finney but voiced by voice actor David Sobolov, Stone was one of the most mysterious characters introduced inDaredevilseason 1. Despite only appearing in one episode,Daredevilseason 1, episode 7, “Stick,” Stone created some huge mysteries inDaredevilthat I would love to see addressed in the upcoming revival series.Bob Sapp previously portrayed Stone in 2005’sElektra, but the version inDaredevilwas far more enigmatic, especially since we never saw the character’s face.
10 Superpowers Daredevil Still Hasn’t Used After 9 Years In The MCU
Charlie Cox has portrayed Matt Murdock’s Daredevil in live-action since 2015, but hasn’t used all of his Marvel Comics counterpart’s abilities.
Scott Glenn’s Stickmeets with Stone inDaredevilseason 1, episode 7, making us think of the old adage,“sticks and stones may break my bones.“Stone is seemingly another member of the Chaste, the ancient group of soldiers of which Stick is a member and had been training Matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios to join. The pair discuss whether Murdock would be ready to fight the Hand when the time came, suggesting that Stone and the Chaste had been keeping a close eye on Daredevil, but this was never resolved in the Netflix series.

Who Is Stone? Marvel Comics History & MCU Changes Explained
Stone Is A Member Of The Chaste In The MCU & Marvel Comics
The version of Stone inDaredevilseason 1 seems to be Stick’s superior, as the old man reports his knowledge of Matt Murdock’s skill to the physically-imposing Stone as if speaking to a higher-ranking member of the Chaste.I always found Stone fascinating, especially because of his intimidating but calm nature and scarred back, and the fact that Marvel Television massively altered the character from Marvel Comics, making me think he should have had a bigger role inDaredevil. In Marvel Comics, Stone is Stick’s favored pupil.
Marvel Comics' Stone has fought alongside Daredevil, Black Widow and Stick on numerous occasions, and even had a hand in resurrecting Elektra following her death at the hands of Bullseye. Stone was able to pour his life force into others to bring them back from the dead, and could focus his chi to enhance his durability, making him capable of withstanding any attack.Stone has been severely underused in both Marvel Comics and in the MCU, so I would love to see him return to be developed more, and, luckily, he fits perfectly intoDaredevil: Born Again’sstory.

Daredevil: Born Again’s Story Has A Perfect Excuse To Reintroduce Stone
Daredevil’s New Threat Could Bring Stone & The Chaste Back
As much as he has always tried to ignore it, Matt Murdock has an intimate history with the Chaste in the MCU, which means the secretive and ancient organization could become even more important inDaredevil: Born Again.Daredevil having to face off against a more politically-powered Kingpin inBorn Againcould lead him to seeking help from his Chaste friends. I would love for this to open the door for Stone to return, asKingpin is a formidable threat, and Matt Murdock will need the strongest fighters on his side.
Daredevil: Born Againseason 1 is scheduled to premiere on August 19, 2025, and will include nine episodes. The series will continue Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk’s stories fromDaredevil, The Defenders,Spider-Man: No Way Home, Hawkeye, She-Hulk: Attorney at LawandEcho.

The Hand, the sworn enemy of the Chastewhich was seemingly destroyed at the end of 2017’sThe Defenders, could also be brought back forDaredevil: Born Again. The Hand’s resurgence on the streets of New York City would constitute the return of the Chaste, which could bring back Stone and, in my wildest dreams, perhaps even bring back a resurrected Stick. Stone deserves a lot more development in the MCU, and I think thatDaredevil: Born Againis perfectly primed to give him some new attention.
