The Recruitmight have been cut by Netflix, but there is still a chance that it could be revived on another platform. Led by Noah Centineo’s Owen Hendricks, it was a dramatic spy show that often leaned into comedy. Having first premiered in 2022, it was quickly renewed for a shorter second season, which premiered in January 2025.The Recruitseason 2 earned positive reviews, withScreenRant’s Felipe Rangel calling it “one giant thrill ride” that is elevated by Centineo’s extraordinary performance. Unfortunately, season 3 was eventually canceled by Netflix.

What This Means For The Recruit’s Cancellation
There Is Potential For A Revival
The Recruitwas reportedly cancelledbecause of declining viewership. Though it still reportedly had 5.9 million viewers, season 1 had 7.3 million viewers. That decline was sharp and painfully apparent. With a limited potential for growth and the high budget that action-based productions demand, Netflix made the decision to end the series. There was also no great jump in popularity after week 1, meaning thatpositive responses did not significantly impact the ratings. It seems Netflix didn’t think it would grow its audience with time, either.
Other Netflix shows, includingWarrior Nun, have been revived on other channels or platforms.
Netflix has become known for canceling shows after two seasons, so it was expected that this could happen.Netflix cancelled 16 shows in 2024 alone, andThe Recruitwas simply one of the first cancellations of 2025. These cancellations are always disappointing whenever they happen, but there is potential for a revival. Other Netflix shows, includingWarrior Nun, have been revived on other channels or platforms.Revivals are relatively rare, especially as Netflix typically bases its cancellations on high budgets and low viewership. Still, a return forThe Recruitis possible.
Our Take On The Recruit’s Potential Return
It’s Possible, But It Will Take A Strong Response
Revivals are generally a possibility, but they typically depend on significant responses from audience members.Warrior Nunwas only revived as a result of a widespread campaign from viewers.Zack Snyder’sJustice Leaguecutwas also only permitted by Warner Bros. after years of campaigning by the fans. IfThe Recruitis going to be revived, then it will likely require a similarly strong response from viewers. It is not especially likely, but the producers would love to see it come to pass.
