The Riddler is Officially Coming to the Burtonverse in New Book Sequel

Batman: RevolutionGives Fans a Dangerous New Riddler

Tim Burton brought the Dark Knight to a new generation with his hit 1989 film,Batman. The film got fans everywhere into a state of ‘Batmania’ and the hype only grew with the 1992 sequel,Batman Returns. However, Burton’s take on the Caped Crusader’s mythos came to an end when Warner Bros decided to part ways with Burton in favor of director Joel Schumacher for the following moviesBatman ForeverandBatman and Robin. However,Burton’s films remain some of the most beloved Batman feature film adaptations, with DC Comics also expanding on the era with two comic book sequels.

Interestingly enough, before Jim Carey landed the role in Shumacher’s Batman Forever, Burton also considered using the Riddler (potentially to be portrayed by Robin Williams). While that didn’t pan out exactly, this will be a fun way of finally bringing Burton’s Batman into conflict with his most intelligent foe. Granted, it takes a few liberties, reinventing Edward Nygma as Norman Pinkus, a minor character introduced in Resurrection. But given the book’s plot, it sounds like this new take on the classic foeis really going to challenge Batman the way only the Riddler truly can.

Burton’s Batman is About to Face One of His Greatest Challenges Yet

Don’t Miss a Brand-New Chapter from the Burtonverse’s Unseen History

Being that this story is set beforeBatman Returns, it won’t change much, if anything to the Burtonverse’s history. But it will be interesting to see how far Norman will go to prove how much smarter and more capable he is than Batman. Riddler’s intellect is only matched by his ego, and by the sounds of things, he’s about to go to some pretty big extremes to prove how much better and more intelligent he is than the Dark Knight. Whatever complex and deadly plan the Riddler has prepared, hopefully Tim Burton’sBatmanis ready to take on the challenge.
