If you need a break from trying to solve today’sConnectionspuzzle on your own, you can consult our tips and tricks to help you do so. There are some fun categories today, and it was a nice puzzle to solve without too much trouble for me, but as always, different people will find each puzzle a different degree of difficulty. It’s always dependent on experienceand the associations that are most clear in your mind. With it feeling a little easier for me today, I can feel more confident giving you the hints you need to win.

Another fun puzzle to try out is theNYT’sTilesgame, which is largely the same kind of game asMahjong. However,Tilesis a little smaller and easier to manage, and there is the added element of having to solve each tile layer by layer. This is not very typical of aMahjongpuzzle and is a different way to approach this type of puzzle. It adds a layer of complexity that was fun for me, but it is still a small manageable size like the rest of the NYT puzzles which I really like.

Today’s Connections Category Hints

FEBRUARY 17 #617

For this puzzle, there are a number of elements that could make it tricky. I think thebiggest potential misstep is just not being aware of some of the references the categories are making. There’s not a lot of crossover, but there are two categories that could be difficult to figure out without the reference. To help you avoid that fate, here are four clues to help you sort it out.

10 Best Connections Tips, Tricks, & Strategies

Four categories with four words each sounds simple, but the daily challenge of the Connections game can prove difficult without a few tips to help.

If you still need help, you shouldcheck out the category namesin the boxes below. After that, you can look at the spoilers to check your work before you submit it and make an unintentional mistake.

___FISH

REST

VACATION

This category felt fairly straightforward. I think thebiggest potential misstep here is putting in SPARE for one of the other words. I might have tried that first, although I can’t remember which word I had subbed it in for. However, I got it on the second go, and it felt more obvious. This one felt fairly good, and I wasn’t too worried about it as I fixed the mistake right away, and I was able to move onto the next one.

WEAVE

WIND

This category could be more difficult depending on how people define these words and if they use them in the sense they are here. SNAKE and WIND particularly might be difficult to put in,whereas I think CURVE and WEAVE sound more like they go together. This is not definite, as I got this one pretty fast. I think it did take me a moment to add in WIND, as I was thinking of it in the other sense at first but came back to it fairly quickly.

9 Helpful Tips To Beat The Password Game (& 1 Useless One)

The Password Game can be frustrating as it uses complex mechanics that can be difficult to figure out, even with help.

STRIKE

TURKEY

This one was easy for me once I got to looking at the options, but I did spend a fair amount of my 90’s childhood in a bowling alley and a later part of my life onWii Bowling, so that’s likely why. If you don’t know that much about bowling,I imagine this would be a lot more difficult and confusing to put together. There are not many other words that could go here otherwise, but I could see it being a problem for those that didn’t spend a worrying amount of time bowling.

GOLD

SWORD

This last category is not obvious but coming to it last always makes it easy. I also don’t see any of these words going many other places, unless BLOW is put with WIND.I could see someone making a category of animals as well, but there isn’t a fourth animal so I don’t think that would keep you occupied for too long. It is interesting that they did it this way, but it makes sense it would be like this instead of “types of fish” for the hardest category.
