Today’s Connections Category Hints
DECEMBER 06 #544
There are many hints that you can use to help you solve this puzzle, but not all of them are useful on their own. I find having hints for all of the different categories at once is most useful for figuring out how to separate out the words. This means you have a vague idea as to what you are looking forwithout having the whole puzzle spoiled for you. Knowing that, here are four categories to help you out with today’s puzzle specifically.
10 Best Connections Tips, Tricks, & Strategies
Four categories with four words each sounds simple, but the daily challenge of the Connections game can prove difficult without a few tips to help.
If those hints were not enough, westill have all the normal spoilersfor you down below.

STUMP
VEX
This category is all about how to confuse someone, or how you can be confused by something else. Certainly,Connectionscan often PERPLEX me, but it is a PUZZLE by nature of the type of game it is. They are meant to STUMP you for at least a little while, but, once you stumble upon the answer, you are likely to be less VEXed than you were before. I also personally love the word “baffle” and think it should be used as much as possible.
POX
SPELL
When you want to curse someone, these are the general options available to you if you want to get more specific. I did recognize all of these words, but I was not sure about POX right away. There were a few other words I considered using instead, and I walked away from this category for a few minutes and came back to see if my answers were still the same.Perhaps someone cursed me to have a bad day atConnections, but it was still an interesting category to uncover.

Strands is one of New York Times' many puzzle games that consists of a unique 6x8 word search that requires players to use zig-zag solutions.
REX
SLINKY
This one stumped me despite watching those movies more times than I can count. Perhaps it was the absence of Woody, as many of these words can be used in other ways and in different circumstances. BUZZ in particular,I thought could be used in either of the previous categories in the right context. I knew HAMM was likely a name, but not knowing what other words to place it with was a bit of a downside for me. Now it all makes sense, and I am sad that I didn’t recognize them.
MANIA
PILLED
I have to say, even knowing what both words in the category name meant and seeing all the words under it, it still didn’t quite make sense to me until I had thought about it for quite some time.GATE is perhaps the easiest to understand, in that people often put it after other words when a scandal has occurred (ex. Watergate). That said, it’s still an odd way to name the category, in my opinion, because I don’t know many words that have PILLED tacked onto them, but maybe I don’t run in the right circles for that one.
