There is a lot going on in today’s puzzle, with a fair number of references and some very similar-looking words. None of the categories are definition-based today, which I find is one of the hardest things to solve,as having a category of synonyms usually gives you at least one answer. However, as I said that does not mean this puzzle is impossible, and the greater your knowledge of cultural phenomena, the better your puzzle-solving skills will be. I didn’t get this one first, but I did get it fairly quickly. SHAMROCKS and HORSESHOES are pretty popular associations with luck, particularly as March is rolling in and St. Patrick’s Day draws nearer. However,a lucky PENNY is also a common item. I would have preferred a Rabbit’s Foot compared to a LADYBUG, because at least the former is soft and fluffy. But I also have a vendetta against LADYBUGs, having suffered for years when they invaded our house annually. It’s been a long time, but I haven’t forgotten how I couldn’t walk around my house like normal.

I weirdly got this one first, but I could see this one being very difficult for people to solve. It’s one of those that look a little too easy, and there are a lot of other compound words in this puzzle. However, I decided to go ahead and guess it anyway, and that turned out to be the right decision.I knew none of the words really went together from a definition side of things as soon as I read through the puzzle, so that helped me look for other ways to connect them.

I spotted FIDDLER and PHANTOM when the puzzle started, and I thought that was pretty suspicious. Both of them are the first main word in a musical title,and they both have a very similar title structure. I thought SUNSET and MERRILY also had the best chance of being combined in this category, but I was also fairly certain there had to be musicals with at least three of the other words in the puzzle in their titles, so I gave it some time and eventually made my guess.
RHINESTONE
SPACE
I would have actually put cowboy after SPACE, instead of before, but I understand that both are possible and true. I had no idea what this one would be when I submitted them because these words otherwise feel very disconnected.Some of them are kind of funny to put together, like a DRUGSTORE and RHINESTONE, so maybe they should be further connected. SometimesConnectionsjust makes you chuckle.
