Anime is packed with unforgettable characters, from inspiring heroes to formidable villains and everything in between. While many of these characters are fascinating to watch on screen, some would be downright nightmarish in reality, whether through horrific deeds or sheer unpredictability. These are the kinds of people who would twist and destabilize reality or potentially turn a quiet street into a war zone.

From their respective shows, their intrigue is undeniable, and they could be entertaining, but attempting to coexist with them outside of fiction is a recipe for disaster. Whether it’s through an overwhelming presence, reality-disrupting powers, or relentless egotism, these characters disrupt the world around them without ever seeming to notice or care. By their very nature, they would challenge societal standards, making them characters best viewed from the safety of a screen.

6Excalibur

Soul Eater

Excalibur is an ancient, legendary weapon inSoul Eater. He is known for his immense power and history that spans across generations of Meisters. His true form is a small, cartoonish character that wears a top hat and carries a cane, with a voice that carries an overinflated sense of self-importance. Countless Meisters have attempted to wield him, only to then abandon the idea due to his unbearable, egotistical, and obnoxious personality. While his power as a legendary weapon is unmatched, his companionship comes at a steep cost—enduring his endless monologs and his strict and seemingly endless clauses.

What makes Excalibur someone no one wants to meet in real life has nothing to do with violence or ill-will. It’s the psychological torment of being in his presence. He demands constant praise, attention, respect, and obedience. Anyone who falls short of his absurd standards gets berated. Even the most patient people are driven to their wit’s end by his nonstop talking and delusional grandeur. While he may be a fun and lovable character on the screen, in reality, he would make people want to rip their hair out.

As a former member of the Phantom Troupe and a powerful Nen user, Hisoka is a dangerous adversary to come across, although he is only drawn to those he deems strong or full of potential. His motivations are purely self-serving and guided by a twisted code of personal amusement rather than morality or loyalty.

What makes Hisoka genuinely disturbing is his fixation on those with immense potential, particularly Gon and Killua, who are also young children. While his behavior toward them is often cloaked in innuendos or unsettling metaphors, it creates a strong sense of predatory obsession that overshadows his presence and intensifies the discomfort he creates. His appalling disregard for ethical boundaries makes him someone no one would ever want to encounter.
