Before Julie was pulled out of the ruins, she also traveled back to the night her mother, Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno), and Victor Kavanaugh (Scott McCord) escaped the tunnels whereFrom’s monstersreside when it is daytime. When Julie and her brother, Ethan (Simon Webster), go to the Town diner duringFromseason 3’s ending, she confides in him about her time travel. Ethan calls her a"story walker,“which he explains is"someone who can visit chapters of the story that already happened.“Julie thinks this means that she can go back in time and change events that have already happened, and suggests that she may be able to go back and save Tian-Chen Liu (Elizabeth Moy) or their brother Thomas from dying.

Despite Ethan’s explanation, the finale’s last scene shows that a future version ofJulie with shorter hairdoes travel back in time in an attempt to change the past. She seems to know that her father, Jim (Eion Bailey), is about to be killed by the Man in the Yellow Suit (Douglas E. Hughes). Her warning is unable to change anything, though, as the Man in the Yellow Suit is still able to tear out Jim’s throat as a horrified Julie watches her father get brutally murdered.

Once she accepts that it is impossible to change events, Julie can instead focus on traveling to points in the past that can help her and the otherFromresidents learn the information needed to survive and escape the Town.
