Despite the report confirming her involvement,there was no indication of what role McKinnon would play. The actress is one of the long-standing members ofSNL, and more recently appeared in Greta Gerwig’sBarbie, as “Weird Barbie.” McKinnon remains uncredited onIMDb’s cast list, but there’s no mistaking her voice once you watch thepost-credits scene forA Minecraft Movie.
With that in mind,McKinnon has been hesitant to discuss theMinecraftrole in previous interviews. In an interview withThe Hollywood Reporter, McKinnon said, when she was asked about her involvement in the adaptation:
“I can’t say about any of [A Minecraft Movie], except I will say I’ve seen the animation and I think it is so special, and it looks so incredible. And on the theme of creativity and not losing your creativity, I think it’s going to be an anthem for that. And I’m very excited to see the film.”

Therefore, it is not technically McKinnon in the post-credits scene, but rather Connolly’s body, with McKinnon providing the voice. When Steve returns to his old home, the new occupant invites him to retrieve the chest he left there.
