NetflixandWWEare forging a massive new partnership, including documentaries and series. WhileNetflix has been a streaming giantfor years at this point, the company has spent the last several years working on various strategies to increase their profile. This has included making partnerships with actors such as Lindsay Lohan and Tyler Perry on multi-film deals that would give these actors a connection with the service. WWE, on the other hand, remains a mainstay in the world of wrestling entertainment.
These two entertainment giants will work together asNetflix and WWE form a partnership. Speaking at a WWE Lunch and Learn event thatScreen Rantattended, Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria revealed the details of the new deal between Netflix and WWE. This partnership will include unscripted series as well as “documentaries and doc follows” that will follow the “great history and characters” from WWE. Bajaria promised that this partnership would give “easy access” to content for WWE fans. Check out the full quote from Bajaria below:

I think we just can’t even imagine fans of WWE who’ve been looking and have to find in different places to really just be able to go and find it and just the easy access to be able to do that is going to be exciting. We also are really looking forward to doing documentaries and doc follows and really taking some of this just great history and characters and being able to do that on the unscripted and scripted side. There’s so many great stars that come from WWE that we’ve had a great relationship with on the TV and movie side.
What This Partnership Means For Netflix And WWE
The announcement of the WWE and Netflix partnership comes just after the companies’recent collaboration on the November 15Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight. This match was streamed globally by Netflix, showing the high-profile event in a live format. The fight amassed over 65 million simultaneous views. These high numbers showed that, despite some notable technical issues, the Netflix airing of the fight was successful.
It seems thatNetflix is trying to capitalize on this event’s success with the new deal with WWE. Bajaria did not specify whether this deal would also mean that more fights would be aired live on Netflix, but with the streamer developing working relationshipswith WWE stars, that seems likely. What is interesting about this deal, however, is that it will extend far beyond Netflix merely having the rights to air WWE fights. It will also encompass a slew of content creation for WWE fans to access.
