Warning: Contains spoilers forScarlet Witch #4!After the fall of Krakoa, everything shifted for theX-Men. Many remain scattered, or at least unaffiliated, and the uncertainty creates the perfect opportunity for some previously unlikely teams to form. The current conditions make it prime time forMagneto’schildren to come together like never before, and it’s time Polaris, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver prove they can be one of the most formidable teams in Marvel history.

Scarlet Witch #4sees the end to Wanda’s battle against the Griever, who seeks to extinguish life on Earth. Wanda has traveled through life, death, and the paths between, whileher siblings have battledthe entity to give her a fighting chance. This is no run-of-the-mill encounter, either. Magneto’s children overpower and outsmart a cosmic entity and find time to grab dinner when it’s all done.

Polaris Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch eat dinner on a rooftop before Polaris flies away.

They’ve moved beyond their complicated family history, and between Wanda’s magic, Pietro’s speed, and Lorna’s magnetism, it’s difficult to imagine a foe they couldn’t overcome when working together. The Griever should be the first of many shared victories.

Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Polaris Deserve Their Own Chapter in Marvel History

Scarlet Witch #4by Steve Orlando, Jacopo Camagni, Frank William, and Ariana Maher

Magneto’s children have not had the easiest sibling journey, made even more difficult by their father figure. While Pietro and Wanda remain as close (and codependent) as ever, they’ve had an off-and-on relationship with Polaris. The battle against the Griever proves that they’re all turning a corner with one another, though, with Lorna even encouraging the twins to reach out to her more often - and not just in a crisis. The three have spent precious little time together, aside from the reality Wanda constructed during theHouse of Mevent, but they have both the time and bond to change that now.

While the twins are splitting their time between their respective Avengers teams, Lorna has no solid commitments with the X-Men or otherwise since the fall of Krakoa, and there’s always an opening in the Marvel Universe for any force capable of standing against major threats. Magneto’s children are more than up to the challenge. Just recently, Polaris acted as a powerhouse against Orchis, Quicksilver took down Baron Blood and his vampire crew, and Scarlet Witch faced Chthon, Agatha Harkness, andmany other threats. The forces and personalities that have kept Magneto’s children apart are no longer at play, andthey can accomplish remarkable feats together.

Polaris and Quicksilver use their powers to fight the Griever.

They Bring Out Each Other’s Strengths

Max Eisenhardt’s family spends too little time on the same page, despite their immense potential together. Much of the fault lies in the patriarch himself, but Lorna joining the Maximoffs to face the Griever and apologizing forher father’s harsh wordsto Quicksilver proved that their bond could exist outside or in spite of him. All three siblings have faced tremendous struggles in their lives, but they clearly make each other stronger. As theX-Menembark on their next chapter,Magneto’schildren could hold the world in the palms of their hands if they worked together to do the same.

Scarlet Witch attacks the Griever as the entity stands over the bodies of Polaris and Quicksilver.
