New footage fromYellowjacketsseason 3’s latest trailergives more credence to a dark theory about Coach Ben’s fate, but makes the circumstances of his seemingly inevitable death even more brutal. WithYellowjacketsseason 3’s release dateof February 14 soon approaching, Showtime finally dropped the full trailer that gives some deeper glimpses at what to expect from the chaos in the past and present timelines. While Shauna, Tai, Van, Misty, and Lottie reel in the aftermath of Natalie’s death in the present, the teens are hunting for their next human meal while dealing with betrayals in the wilderness.

As teased byYellowjacketsseason 2’s ending, when he fled the cabin and set it ablaze, Coach Ben appears to be next on the chopping block in season 3. Ben was the only character who didn’t engage in cannibalism or the Queen of Hearts ritual, and subsequently sabotaged the others by setting the cabin on fire.Yellowjacketsseason 3’s trailerconfirms the angry teens are intent on exacting revenge, with Natalie seemingly hiding his whereabouts. It’sonly a matter of time before they find Coach Ben, however, and the trailer teases their cannibalistic revenge will be cruelerthan their typical ritual.

Yellowjackets Season 3’s Trailer Hints The Teens Might Eat Coach Ben Alive

Ben’s Agonizing Screams Hint At The Teens' Brutal Revenge

It had already been widelytheorized that Coach Ben will be eaten inYellowjacketsseason 3, but some clips of the character in the new trailer hint his death will be more brutal than expected. A previous image released by Showtime already hinted at the teens shooting Coach Ben, as a horrified Misty and Natalie looking on at an unknown off-screen figure who had a gun pointed at them. However, the new trailer suggests that some cruel torture elements may be integrated into the teens’ punishment for Coach Ben.

Rather than just kill him and eat his body, itseems more likely now that the teens will end up eating Coach Ben while he’s still alive. Certain shots inYellowjackets’ season 3 trailer show Coach Ben screaming in agony, which points to the teens torturing him after tracking him down. There are also some shots from the trailer that show the teens biting directly into body parts that appear to be uncooked (unlike when theyate Javi and Jackie inYellowjacketsseason 2).

Yellowjackets Season 3 May Have Just Revealed A Major Character Death In The Wilderness

A new set of images from Yellowjackets season 3 hint at a major original character’s death in the wilderness during the upcoming episodes.

As theteens become more feral inYellowjacketsseason 3, it seems they’re combining their torturous punishments with their need to resort to cannibalism for food. Initially, their cannibalism was simply a survival tactic that was also influenced by the powers of the “wilderness” overcoming them, so eating Jackie and Javi wasn’t malicious or based on revenge. That wouldn’t be the case for Coach Ben’s death, however, which may be why the teens decide to eat him alive – if the theory proves to be correct, of course.

There’s No Way That Coach Ben Survives Yellowjackets Season 3

Coach Ben’s Death Would Highlight The Teens' Loss Of Humanity

Even if he isn’t eaten alive as the trailer suggests, it’s hard to believe that Coach Ben will make it out ofYellowjacketsseason 3 alive. Currently, the onlyconfirmed characters who survived the wilderness inYellowjacketsare Shauna, Tai, Van, Misty, Lottie, Natalie (who later died in season 2), and Travis (who later died in season 1), whichimplies that everyone else who is still alive in the past timeline will die before the rescue. That, of course, includes Coach Ben, with there being no indication of his possible survival in the present timeline so far.

Ben’s death would be pure revenge and corruption, highlighting how the teens are losing more of their humanity the longer they’re in the wilderness.

Furthermore,Coach Ben dying inYellowjacketsseason 3 fits with the progression of the themes in the show and the moral corruption of the teens in the wilderness. So far, the deaths in the wilderness haven’t been malicious, vengeful, or out of pure bloodthirst; they’ve been accidental or part of their agreed-upon survival tactic. Coach Ben’s death would change that, as there would be no survival-based necessity for his death because of being “chosen” by the wilderness. Ben’s death would be pure revenge and corruption, highlighting how the teens are losing more of their humanity the longer they’re in the wilderness.

Is Hilary Swank’s Character Connected To Coach Ben In Yellowjackets Season 3?

As was the case inYellowjacketsseasons 1 and 2, the past and present timelines feature narrative parallels for the overarching stories and tragedies faced by the teens and adults. As such, if Coach Ben is going to be the primary adversary for the teens and eventually killed and eaten alive, then season 3 will have to include a narrative thread that connects to his journey inYellowjackets’ present timeline. Ultimately, it seems the only way to accomplish that would be tointroduce a character personally connected to Coach Ben.

Another popular theory speculates that Hilary Swank is playing an adult version of theYellowjacketscharacter Melanie.

Enter Hilary Swank as a mysterious new character inYellowjacketsseason 3’s cast. Details surrounding Swank’s role are still undisclosed, but teaser trailers have revealed that she goes up against Shauna and Misty in the present timeline. The most logical reason for that would be that she’s investigating them and trying to find out the truth about what happened in the wilderness, but it doesn’t seem like she’s doing so “officially.” The surrounding mystery has led tospeculation that Swank is playing Coach Ben’s sister, who might be looking into the truth about his fate inYellowjacketsseason 3.
