Kevin Costner as John Dutton in Yellowstone

In the new season, we’re gonna learn a lot more about the relationship between Jamie and Sarah and what Sarah wants, what Jamie really wants. And it was hard for me to see who was playing who, or if they were playing each other or truly connecting. You know, it was a bit of a mystery to me as well. And as we move forward, it’s interesting to see where that comes out. And it’s another one of those great ideas from Taylor, definitely.

What Bentley’s Comments Mean For Yellowstone Season 5 Part B

Sarah Could Be Pulling The Strings

Theopening episode ofYellowstoneseason 5 part Bis a strange one, not only because of all the real-life conflicts that led to Costner’s exit, but also because of Jamie’s response to the shocking death. Jamie is visibly thrown by the death of his adoptive father and brought to tears. But it’s quickly revealed that he had authorizedJohn’s death, with his lover Sarah following through on his orders.

Why Kevin Costner Left Yellowstone

Kevin Costner has infamously exited Yellowstone season 5 ahead of part 2’s release. Here’s why he left & how the show can continue without him.

Another way of looking at the episode, however, is to imagine that an upset Jamie was merely venting and perhaps wishing, but never actually believing that Sarah would follow through on the death order. In any case, though there are multiple ways to regard Jamie’s self-pitying, Bentley’s comments ensure that the strange dynamic will receive a greater focus, getting a spotlight intheYellowstonecastgoing into the rest of the final episodes.

Our Take On Jamie & Sarah’s Relationship

She May Be More Honest

For all of her amoral ruthlessness, Sarah doesn’t overtly cling to the idea that she’s the aggrieved and wrong party in the way that Jamie does. He feels somehow that he is still a victim, even as he essentially agreed to assassinate his own father. In the coming showdown with Beth (Kelly Reilly), Jamie’s unwillingness to embrace who he is might mean the downfall that keeps him away from the reportedYellowstoneseason 6in development.

New episodes ofYellowstoneseason 5 part B air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on the Paramount Network.
