Compared toStar Railand especiallyGenshin,ZZZis still relatively new as a live-service title, and as a result,the game’s 1.2 update will be aiming to make a number of quality-of-life changes alongside its added content. These will include several additions to help streamline the exploration-focused “TV sections” of the game, with sped-up animations, the ability to automatically gain certain rewards when replaying missions, and the ability to skip certain events and animations altogether. Additionally, features like a stamina overflow system, preset teams, and a faster Hollow Zero mode will be added as well.

ZZZ’s Tour de Inferno Update Releases On July 18, 2025
Zenless Zone Zero’s 1.2 update, Tour de Inferno, is set to be released on July 01, 2025, bringing with it new story missions, a new area in the Outer Ring, and four new limited banners spread across the two “halves” of the patch. Additionally, after the side story introduced in the previous update,ZZZ1.2 will mark the first update to the game’s main story, as the Phaethon siblings journey to the Outer Ring and get wrapped up in the titular Tour de Inferno - a massive competition between the area’s biker gangs to decide the next Overlord.
ZZZ’s New Banner Reveal Teases A Unique & Tragic Backstory
One upcoming Zenless Zone Zero banner character is revealed to have a tragic backstory that’s much darker than players had imagined.
Also coming inZZZ1.2 are two new Disc Drive Sets, Chaos Jazz and Proto Punk, which focus on Fire/Electric Anomaly and shielding, respectively, as well as several new enemies, including a new weekly Notorious Hunt, a new minigame in the Godfinger Arcade, and several new events. Of the new events, the Overlord’s Feast event will be particularly notable for many players, asit will provide A-rank agent Lucy for free as one of its rewards.

ZZZ 1.2 Introduces Several New Characters In The Outer Ring
ZZZ1.2 will also introduce several new characters - most notably,the two new S-rank agents being introduced in the patch, Caesar King and Burnice White, areboth part of the Sons of Calydon, a biker-themed faction that roams and transports supplies around the Outer Ring. Caesar, the leader of the Sons of Calydon, is a Physical Defense agent with unique parry mechanics and the ability to grant team-wide shields and buffs, while Burnice, a mixologist, is a Fire Anomaly agent who quickly builds up Anomaly and can continue to deal damage while another character is active.
Lucy and Piper, also part of the Sons of Calydon, have been playable since the game’s launch, but will also be receiving their first official story introductions in 1.2, along with a fifth, not-yet playable member, Lighter, and a unique S-rank Bangboo, Red Moccus. Outside the Sons of Calydon, teasers for 1.2 have also shown off several new characters, enemies, and NPCs, including the Vanquishers, a rival biker gang to the Sons of Calydon, and Pompey, the Overlord who presides over the Motor League that the Outer Ring’s biker gangs are a part of.
Zenless Zone Zero 1.1 Leaks Reveal New Character That Isn’t Burnice Or Caesar
A recent Zenless Zone Zero leak confirms a new NPC is in development and he looks very similar to a familiar Honkai Star Rail character.
Notably, in 1.2, not only will Caesar and Burnice be added to the game’s Partner Archives (ZZZ’s simplified affection system), but Lucy and Piper will also be fully integrated into it for the first time as well - despite being playable in-game from the time ofZZZ’s launch, neither character has been officially “met” as part of the story, so 1.2 will mark the first time that players can meet them for events and raise their affection levels. Additionally, Burnice will also receive her own unique Agent Story, “A Stroke of Luck,” which will expand on her character.

ZZZ 1.2’s Banners Focus On Caesar King And Burnice White
Like previousZZZversions, and other HoYoverse games, 1.2’s banners will run in two distinct phases, with each phase taking up roughly half of the patch’s runtime.The first limited banners will focus on Caesar Kingand her signature W-Engine, Tusks of Fury, and will begin immediately after the update’s release on September 25, before ending roughly around October 16. Caesar’s character banner will include Anton and Piper as rate-up A-rank agents, and her W-Engine banner will likewise include their signature A-rank W-Engines, Drill Rig - Red Axis and Roaring Ride, respectively.

I got a chance to have a brief chat with DJ Tiesto and ZZZ’s music producer, Wutao Yang, about the unexpected collaboration’s perfect fit.
1.2’s second phase banners will start immediately after the end of the first phase around October 16, and run until the end of the patch around November 6.This phase’s banners will focus on Burnice Whiteand her signature W-Engine, Flamemaker Shaker, with her character banner including Lucy and Nicole as the rate-up A-rank agents, while each of their signature A-rank W-Engines, Kaboom the Cannon and The Vault, respectively, will feature as rate-ups on her W-Engine banner.
Both banners are valuable to pull on, but will likely not be of equal importance to every player - Caesar, for example, has an especially unique place as the first S-rank Defense character in the game, with her powerful defensive and offensive buffs making her a versatile addition to almost any team, but her banner’s A-ranks, Anton and Piper, are somewhat less valuable. Burnice, on the other hand, isn’t quite as unique (although she’s still the first Fire Anomaly agent), but her banner features Lucy and Nicole, two of the best A-rank supports in the game.
For players who pulled Jane Doe in 1.1, Burnice may hold extra value, as both characters are likely to be effective when paired together in a team that exploits the game’s Disorder mechanic.
After a relatively small update in 1.1,Zenless Zone Zero1.2 is looking to be a major step-up, with the game’s first main story continuation and an entirely new area to explore. While any truly major expansions will likely have to wait until a prospective 2.0 update, like with other HoYoverse games,Zenless Zone Zero1.2, Tour de Inferno is bringing some welcome content and QoL updates to the game.
